Animated Magazine Cover

Well, this took a lot longer than I expected. I think it’s pretty ok even with the hair bouncing around a bit but that’s because I got lazy. Whoops. My least favorite part of this was my attempt to recreate the clouds in the background. Basically I took the Doctor Who Entertainment Weekly Cover and cut out the still of the Doctor. I had to recreate some of the font (only for it later to be covered up by the gif). Then I took a gif from an episode of Doctor Who and that was that. A little bit more description can be found in the read more section.

Another GIF for Sarah

Is this what you wanted Sarah? And what is it with you and making me make gifs that relate to bears? First Pedo bear now Creepy bear

Yet another movie poster GIF

This time I made a movie poster for Atonement.

The bottom half is part of the original poster, the top half is a gif I made from a scene in the movie. Umm… my thought process on this is kind of weird but I’ll give it a shot at explaining it though I suck at explaining things (I could also be completely wrong in the interpretation of the scene.)
Very basic explanation of scene: Keira Knightley’s character (Cecilia) had jumped into the fountain to retrieve a piece of a vase that had fallen into the water (partly Robbie, James McAvoy’s, character’s fault). She walks off in a huff and then Robbie sits on the edge of the fountain and places his hand to the water barely disturbing it. I kind of thought it was like he was reaching out for Cecilia or something. And I thought it would look cool the way this poster was split. I don’t know it sounds stupid.

Take 2 with the gif reversing.

Finally something new

Work and real life has kept me busy. Here’s a quick gif. In the actual clip the people move but I just wanted the background to move. It’s a little sloppy you can see the figure on the left move a bit (his arm) near the end of the gif. This is from an episode of Doctor Who.

Animated Movie Poster Attempt 1

Here’s my first attempt at an animated movie poster, as well as my first real post for DS106 pt 2! It doesn’t really look like the other animated posters but this was my take on them. It’s basically the “frame” of the real movie poster. I removed most of the original image, except the candles (which I tried to keep but you can kind of tell where it’s a bit smudged and all). I then made a gif (in photoshop) of the part of the first movie where they arrive at Hogwarts via the boats. Then I put the “frame” of the poster overtop the gif and voilà! My animated movie poster.
This was pretty fun and I will probably make another one and perhaps do a step by step process post of how I did it instead of my awkward attempt at explanation.  🙂
Now to spruce up my blog.

Boredom of Spring Break

Hope everyone’s break is going fine. I’m back at Mary Washington for the day before heading to Philadelphia. My roomie has been here all break because of student teaching, but, because of that she goes to bed early and thus I decided to make these gifs (also because I haven’t posted in awhile and I felt bad about it). Nothing fancy, they’re simple ones like my Elf gif. I hope the speed is ok on these ones. I would like to go back one day and fix my first Psych gif but this is what I have for now.

This is another one from Psych. Shawn (on the left) and Gus (on the right) are sneaking down the hall pretending they’re spies. They hear someone coming and flatten themselves against the wall as this guy in a motorized wheelchair rolls on by. This one seems a bit slow but that’s about how slow the old guy was actually rolling down the hall.

The second one is from Top Gear (the one on the BBC not the American version on the History Channel). Basically I thought Richard Hammond’s facial expressions were funny and so I made this.  The gif seems a little fast.

The last one is also from Top Gear and it’s Jeremy Clarkson giving the Australians (whom Richard Hammond and the Stig in the previous gif were racing) the loser sign since, well, they lost. This one also seems a bit fast but there weren’t that many frames of it.

Elf Gif

I made another Gif! Yaaaay. I think these are kind of addicting. I had planned to do another 4 icon movie post and/or a minimalist movi poster buuut I ran out of time before rugby working on this and I am going to go take a nap before I work from 10:30pm-2:30am (fun times).

This one is from Elf starring Will Ferrell. Basically I wanted it to be an infinite loop of him eating cotton balls whilst in the waiting room in the doctor’s office. Nothing too fancy since there is no part of the image not moving. Only thing is it’s quite long but I can’t make it faster. It also jerks a bit as it switches from the end back to the beginning frame but I tried to fix it didn’t get it an exact match though.

This is my silly attempt at a Gif. I made it from the intro to Season 4 of Psych which is an amazing and hilarious show. This character is Shawn Spencer and he’s convinced the Santa Barbara Police Department he is a psychic and he makes these weird hand motions alot of the time when he has a “vision.”

It took about an hour or two partly because I got confused a couple of times while trying to delete layers but not have giant gaping holes in the gif… for awhile Shawn didn’t have a head. It is very choppy and I sort of cut off his hand a bit on the left side of the screen but I somehow made a Gif and I am proud of it 😀

I used the Bionic Teaching Tutorial . Thing was it didn’t say how to get the video onto your computer… it said something about Quicktime and the fact they grabbed something from netflix instantview but I had no idea how. I resorted to finding a video on youtube. Then editing it on photoshop. Also saving it turned into a problem when I couldn’t figure out what type of file to save it as (you say “Duh, gif!” but I didn’t have that option.)
